The Arizona Department of Health posted more medical marijuana program reports for Jan - Mar 2017. The December surge subsided, but in March a new larger (!!!!) surge of over 5100 new qualifying patients and caregivers to a total of 124,308 people. Not sure what's going on with that, and I can't wait to see what happens next! The plots below show that there were more people than previous months, and each person was consuming more.
124,308 patients represents 1.85% of the population. Experts say (and we agree) that the number of patients will top out at about 3% of the population. This means 201,945 people. Consumption is at 34.18 grams per month per patient, or 9,366 pounds per month for the entire state. If every five pounds of raw flower is tested, that means 1,873 tests per month.
